Educators can assign 95 Phonics Lesson Library™ 2.0 (PLL 2.0) digital activities and track student progress from the Assign Student Activities page in the One95™ platform.
Access the Assign Student Activities page by selecting Activities from the navigation panel.
Assigning Activities
The skill table within the Assign Student Activities page enables educators to assign digital activities, known as Student Activity Modules or SAMs, to students in their class or care.
SAMs are a digital alternative to using physical manipulatives within each day of the five-day lesson.
Skill 2 is displayed by default. The columns are labeled 2.1 through 2.6. for each subskill. Alternate between skills using the Skip to drop-down above the skill table. Only one skill can be viewed at a time.
A subskill is the unit to which you can assign students for literacy practice. Subskill assignments determine which SAMs students can access.
Subskill columns must be expanded before assignments can be managed. Click the triangle icons in the bottom right-hand corner of each subskill column to expand them.
Subskills can be assigned individually or in bulk by clicking the closed-eye icons.
- Clicking the closed-eye icons within individual student rows adds the subskill to the student’s flipbook.
- Clicking the closed-eye icons within subskill columns adds the subskill to the flipbooks of every student displayed in the table.
Subskills can be unassigned individually or in bulk by clicking the open-eye icons.
This removes the subskill from the flipbooks of one or many students.
To streamline assignments, educators can filter the students displayed within the skill table by name, grade, and the active groups they lead using the filters at the top of the page.
Filters can be used in conjunction with one another and the search bar.
SAM Previews
It is advisable to model the SAMs to walk students through the functionality when they are used for the first time.
Although the Teacher Presentation Files (TPFs) illustrate the activities for the “I Do” and “We Do” stages of each lesson and closely mimic the SAMs, they do not capture the specific steps for completing them.
Click the ellipsis icon within an expanded subskill column to preview the related SAMs.
Tracking Progress
The skill table displays the completion data from students' assigned SAMs.
Flipbook Status
By default, the status below students’ names indicates that they have not logged in to the student flipbook.
As students progress through intervention, the statuses will reflect Active Now or Last Active.
Active Now: This status indicates that the student is currently active or has been active in the flipbook within the last three minutes.
Last Active: This status indicates that the student is not currently active in the flipbook but has previously been active. The date on which they were last active is displayed in MM/DD/YYYY format.
Subskill Columns
Collapsed Columns
By default, student rows within collapsed columns are empty, indicating that subskills have not been assigned.
As students progress through intervention, student rows may reflect one of two icons.
- Checkmark icons indicate that the subskill was previously assigned, and the student completed at least three SAMs.
- Green circle icons indicate that the subskill is currently assigned.
Hover over the Info Key button to reference the column icon criteria at any time.
Expanded Columns
View each student’s subskill progress in a day-by-day breakdown by expanding the columns.
Within each student row, there are five columns labeled DAY 1 through DAY 5, with each column representing one of the five lesson days. The columns list the SAMs available for that day.
Students must reach the designated criteria within their assigned SAMs for the activity to be considered complete. SAM colors are an indicator of the student’s activity status.
- Gray SAMs indicate that the activity has not been opened. This is the default state.
- Navy SAMs indicate that the activity has been opened but not completed.
- Green SAMs indicate that the activity has been completed.
Hover over the Info Key button above the skill table to reference the SAM color criteria at any time.

Skill Summary
Drill down into each student’s skill progress by clicking the View Details button below their name. This provides a summary of the student’s subskill progression across one or more skills.
- Session data from the same day is combined.
- Durations are rounded up to the nearest minute.
The student's most recently completed and saved 95 Phonics Screener for Intervention™ (PSI) results related to the selected skill in the Skip to drop-down will be displayed for visibility, streamlining subskill assignments.
Student View
The student flipbook houses students’ SAMs.
Subskills will be dynamically presented on the flipbook homepage as they are assigned and unassigned.
Subskills are automatically unassigned after 21 days to help educators manage active assignments and ensure students have a limited number of subskills available in their flipbooks.
In this example, students will select the 2.1 tile, which represents Subskill 2.1, to begin their practice.
From here, students will select a day tile to view the SAMs related to each lesson day.
Students will select the SAM tiles to open each activity.
Clicking START launches the activity in preparation for the “I Do,” “We Do,” or “You Do” stages of the lesson.
